Why a Relationship With Your Window Cleaner Matters

Over the years, I've had customers move.

I've had property managers change companies.

I've had homeowners buy a new house and call us to clean the windows before they even finished unpacking.

I've also worked with people as their businesses grew from one location to several.

Those are some of my favorite calls to get.

Because somewhere along the way, we stopped being the company that cleaned their windows and became their window company.

There's a difference.

A good window cleaner gets your glass clean.

A good relationship with a window cleaner means you have someone you already know and trust when you need advice, maintenance, a repair, or service at the next place life takes you.

We Get to Know Your Property

The first time we clean a home or business, everything is new to us.

We learn how to access the property. We figure out which windows need a little extra attention. We notice where sprinklers are hitting the glass, which screens are difficult to remove, and which areas collect the most dirt.

The next time we come back, we're not starting over.

We already know the property.

After several visits, we may even begin noticing changes.

That little bit of hard water wasn't there six months ago.

That weatherstripping is starting to deteriorate.

That insulated glass unit that looked slightly cloudy last year has gotten worse.

There's real value in having the same company see your windows year after year.

A Good Service Company Grows With Your Business

This matters just as much for our commercial customers.

Maybe you manage one property today and five properties a few years from now.

Maybe your business moves into a larger building.

Maybe you're a property manager who changes companies but still needs vendors you know will answer the phone.

You shouldn't have to rebuild your vendor relationships every time your career or business changes.

A reliable service company should be able to grow alongside you.

We've had customers bring us into new properties simply because they already knew how we worked.

They knew we'd communicate.

They knew we'd show up.

They knew what kind of work to expect.

That's what a good vendor relationship should look like.

And Sometimes We Follow You Home

This is probably one of my favorite parts of running HRS.

Relationships don't always stay attached to an address.

We've had homeowners move and call us at the new house. We've had people who knew us through a business or property ask us to take care of their home. We've had customers refer us to family members, neighbors, and friends.

The house changed.

The relationship didn't.

When you find someone you trust to work around your home, there's comfort in not having to search for somebody new every time you need something.

HRS Professional Tip

When you find a reliable home service company, keep them. Price matters, but so does having someone who already knows you, knows your property, keeps good records, and answers when you call. A trusted vendor relationship can save a lot of time and frustration over the years.

We Know the History of Your Windows

There is another practical advantage to a long-term relationship.

History.

If we cleaned your windows six months ago, we have something to compare them to.

If we've maintained them for five years, we have a much better understanding of how they're aging.

That can be especially helpful when we're talking about hard water, failed seals, deteriorating weatherstripping, screens, damaged glass, or other maintenance issues.

Instead of looking at one moment in time, we're able to see a pattern.

And because HRS handles both cleaning and many window and glass repairs, that relationship doesn't necessarily have to end when cleaning is no longer the solution.

Sometimes we'll clean it.

Sometimes we'll repair it.

Sometimes we'll replace the glass.

And sometimes we'll tell you it looks fine and doesn't need anything yet.

Trust Makes Maintenance Easier

I think one of the biggest advantages of a long-term service relationship is simply knowing who to call.

You don't have to search Google every time something happens.

You don't have to explain your house from scratch.

You don't have to wonder whether someone will actually show up.

You send a text, make a call, or reach out and say, "Austin, I've got something going on with this window."

We'll take it from there.

That's how I want HRS to fit into our customers' lives.

We're Building Relationships, Not a Route

Recurring customers are obviously important to any service business.

But I've never liked looking at people as stops on a route.

There's a person behind every address.

There's a homeowner taking care of something they've worked hard for. There's a property manager trying to keep a building running. There's a business owner trying to take one more thing off their plate.

If we do our job well, hopefully you don't have to think very much about your windows at all.

You just know who to call.

Your Address May Change. Your Window Company Doesn't Have To.

A lot can happen over the years.

You might move.

Your family might grow.

Your business might expand.

You might buy an investment property or take responsibility for a new building.

Wherever life takes you, a good service relationship should be able to come with you.

That's what we've tried to build at HRS Window Cleaning since 2013.

Not just a list of customers.

Relationships.

If you're looking for someone to clean your windows once, we'd be happy to help.

But if you're looking for a window company you can call for the next ten years, that's the relationship we'd really like to earn.

Thanks for reading.

Some of the most rewarding customers I've had aren't necessarily the biggest jobs we've ever done. They're the people I've gotten to know because they kept calling us back, moved and called us again, changed companies and brought us along, or sent us to take care of someone they cared about. That's what makes a service business feel like more than just a business.
